Who We Are

A Christ-centered wellness ministry dedicated to whole-person restoration.

Our Story

In December 1982, pioneers Dennis Blum, Ken Glantz, Hal and Betsy Mayer, and Colin Standish committed to purchasing 500 acres of the Hartland Hall Plantation from Milligan College. With donations and a twenty-year mortgage, Jehovah Jireh provided a way for the below-market $900,000 purchase—forming what would become Hartland Institute of Health and Education Inc.

Through sacrificial support, the mortgage was retired in nine and a half years, and the campus expanded to 760 acres. In May 1984, Dr. Warren Peters and medical missionaries launched the Hartland Wellness Center health program, and Hartland College welcomed its first student class in September 1984.

Our Foundation

From the beginning, we have used the eight natural laws of health at HARTLAND—Hydrotherapy, Air, Rest, Temperance, Light, Activity, Nutrition, Divine Power —a Bible-based approach to wellness supported by Ellen White’s writings, natural therapies, and research. Our programs were designed for whole-person restoration, addressing physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs.

Our desire is for guests to encounter God—the Creator and Sustainer—who supports healing through the natural laws of health, and at times, through His miracles.

Wellness Center Programs

Every program includes plant-based cuisine, educational health lectures, menu planning, hands-on cooking classes, stress management support, personalized lifestyle evaluation, exercise, physician consultation, first lab work included, herbal supplementation, juicing, poultices, infrared sauna, steam sauna, counseling, weekend activities, and spiritual support—along with personal attention.
